MONROE — Carmen Wagner has spent the better part of four seasons torturing opposing defenses -- and on Tuesday, the Lakeview Academy striker reached a milestone to show just how dominant she's been.
Wagner capped a hat-trick performance in a 8-0 shutout of George Walton Academy in style, her third goal bringing her to 100 career goals for the Lady Lions (9-2, 2-0 Region 8-A).
Wagner scored twice in the first half, as Lakeview built a 4-0 advantage. She was not content with 99, however, and burst through the George Walton defense for her 23rd strike of the season to do something unequalled in program history -- and perhaps beyond (EDITOR'S NOTE: records are not readily available for all other programs in northeast Georgia).
Meredith Tucker and Arantxa Villa also each scored once for Lakeview in the win.
Meanwhile, the Lady Lions' Ansley Rochester and Lainie Ewers combined in goal for the shutout. Rochester, a senior, also scored her first varsity goal as she was assisted by Wagner. Jackie Allen also scored in the second half.
