Baseball: North Hall sweeps Fannin County in dramatic fashion

GAINESVILLE — North Hall kept its perfect Region 7-AAA record in tact with a pair of dramtic seventh-inning wins Friday at Jody Davis Field.

The Trojans (12-3, 6-0 Region 7-AAA) got a walk-off hit from Drew Hubbard in a 3-2 win in Game 1 and Jackson Latty laced a two-run double in Game 2 for a 2-1 victory.

In Game 1, North Hal rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. In the deciding inning, Latty reached on an error by the Fannin County shortstop and Charlie Erickson followed with a two-run home run to tie the game. Wesley Smith was then hit by a pitch and John Mark Montgomery pinch ran and stole second base. Drew Hubbard doubled down the left field line to drive in Montgomery for the game-winning run.

Taber Mongero had two hits and Austin adams also had one hit for North Hall.

Latty got the win in one inning of relief. Caleb Clark started and allowed two runs over six innings for the Trojans.

In Game 2, trailing 1-0, Dylan Lavender led off with a walk. Mongero reached on an error on an attempted sacrifice bunt. Austin Adams walked to load the bases. Fannin County makes replaced Will Shirah, who had fanned 11 in six innings, with one out and Latty greeted reliever Austin Muse with a walk-off double to score Lavender and Mongero for the win.

Reese Olson earned the win in Game 2 striking out nine and scattering four hits to improve to 5-0 on the season.

The Trojans swept the Rebels in the three-game series coming from behind in the seventh inning in all three games.
