Don Carter State Park resumes 'volunteer days' next weekend

By AccessWDUN staff

Don Carter State Park suspended its "second Saturday of the month" Volunteer Days for the winter but they will resume next Saturday.

Nineteen people turned out for the November event, the last one before the winter break, and participated in a trail cleaning and maintenance project.

Volunteer Days were to resume this weekend but because rain was forecast for Saturday, it was decided to postpone things a week.

The project next Saturday will involve the installation of a horseshoe court at the playground in the RV campground.  Volunteers should meet at the Visitors' Center at 9:00.

The park also needs volunteers for the Chattahoochee River Keeper's annual "Sweep The Hooch" cleanup to be held Saturday, April 8.  Volunteers for that can sign up at the River Keeper's webpage but be sure that you designate that you are signing up to be a part of the Don Carter State Park Team.

A week later, the Friends of Don Carter State Park's annual 5K race will be held April 15..  Both volunteers and participants are needed for that event.
