The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly Athlete of the Week honor roll with a trio of Piedmont athletes earning a spot on the listing. Julianna Surgent, Morgan Buchholz and Nathan Metzger all earned their first athlete of the week honors of the 2017 season.
Surgent earned Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week posting five ground balls in Piedmont's 20-5 victory over Adrian last week. The senior from Huntingtown, Maryland also caused five turnovers and scored twice.
Metzger took Men's Tennis Player of the Week with a 2-0 record at number one singles and doubles picking up a pair of wins on Sunday. MORGAN BUCHHOLZ took Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week as she was undefeated at the number one singles and doubles in the lone match of the week for the Lady Lions.
The USA South Athletic Conference announces its weekly honor roll each Monday and at least half of the teams in a sport must have competed within the previous week for honors to be awarded.
