Baseball: North Hall splits DH with West Forsyth, George Walton

GAINESVILLE — North Hall split a three-team doubleheader Saturday at Jody Davis Field.

The Torjans fell to West Forsyth 8-5 in nine innings in the first game but rebounded with an 11-4 win over George Walton Academy.

In the first game, North Hall got behind early, rallied to send the game into extra innings, but then eventually fell in extra innings.

North Hall (3-1) trailed 5-1 going to the bottom of the seventh but scored four times to tie the game. However, the Wolverines scored three times in the top of the ninth for the game-winning runs.

Reese Olson went 5 2/3 innings allowing two runs on five hits and striking out three. Dylan Lavender allowed three runs on four hits in just two-thirds of an inning. Austin Adams took the loss despite allowing just two runs and three hits in 2 2/3 innings.

The Wolverines pounded out 12 hits. North Hall had seven.

Wesley Smith had two hits and Taber Mongero, Jackson Latty, Charlie Erickson, Caleb Clark, and John Mark Montgomery had one each for the Trojans. Clark had a pair of RBI and Erickson, Olson, and Lavender had one apiece.

In the nightcap, the Trojans used three big innings to beat George Walton Academy.

North Hall took a quick 3-0 lead in the first, added three more in the fourth, and blew it open with five runs in the fifth after the Bulldogs had closed the gap to 6-4 with a four-run top of the fifth.

Caleb Clark earned the win going 4 1/3 innings allowing five hits and four runs, which were all unearned. Clark also had three hits and two RBI at the plate. Mongero and Adams had two hits and one RBI apiece. Erickson, Olson, Smith, and Lavender each had one for North Hall.
