A Gainesville man was arrested on multiple charges Saturday as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged violations of Georgia's Family Violence Act.

Michael Allen Arcenaux, 40, faces six charges in the case, which stems from an alleged assault against an unknown individual that occurred inside a northwest Hall County residence on Fisherman's Cove near Price Road.

In a email release sent to local media Sunday morning, Hall County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Ware said Arcenaux reportedly kicked open the victim's bedroom door and began strangling her.

"As the victim was calling 911 for help, Arcenaux grabbed the victim by her arms and head-butted her," he explained.

Ware noted that two children inside the residence witnessed the assault.

Deputies responding to the location arrested Arcenaux without incident, and Ware said he was later booked into the Hall County Jail.

Arcenaux faces the following charges in the case:

  • Simple Battery (FVA) (M)
  • Aggravated Assault (FVA)
  • Obstruction of an Emergency Call
  • Criminal Trespass (FVA)
  • Cruelty to Children (1st Degree)
  • Cruelty to Children (3rd Degree)

The case is still being investigated by the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
