The North Hall boys and girls tennis teams swept past Lumpkin County in season-opening matches on Thursday. The Trojans won 4-1 and the Lady Trojans swept, 5-0.
In the boys match, North Hall's Masa Kobayashi defeated Tyler Schott 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, while Christian Boychuk defeated Eli Ledford 6-2, 6-4. Kody Dills also defeated Jacob Tomblin 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. North Hall's No. 1 team of Daniel Martin/Adam Turcotte took out Hunter Cane/Conner Stephens 6-0, 6-1, though Lumpkin's No. 2 team of Laken Ferrell/Sub Hunsinger defeated 4-6, 6-4, 7-10 Shawn Wallhausen/Jackson Roush.
In the girls match, North Hall's Anna Montgomery defeated Izzy Kinnard 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Lauren Davis defeated Malorie Young 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Christen Barnes also defeated Marissa Miller 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. The Lady Trojans' No. 1 doubles team of Sydney Patterson/Raquel Kallab defeated Lindsey Ruschton/Shelby McGill 6-1, 6-1, and the No. 2 team of Lauren White/Baylee Turner swept Brooklyn Duncan/Madison Deal 6-0, 6-1.
Both teams are now 1-0 and host Meadowcreek next Thursday.
