DAWSONVILLE — Dawson County outscored East Hall 32-19 in the fourth quarter to rally for a huge 81-73 Region 7-AAA win Tuesday night at home.
The Tigers (12-11, 6-5 Region 7-AAA) trailed 54-49 heading into the final period and exploded behind Jeremiah Crumley, who had 13 of his team-high 21 points in the fourth quarter.
Both teams started out slow as the Vikings (16-7, 9-2) led 14-8 after the first quarter. Dawson County battled back to tie the game at 34 by halftime outscoring East Hall 26-20 in the second quarter. East Hall opened the third quarter on an 8-0 to lead 42-34 but the Tigers responded with an 8-0 run of their own to tie things up again at 42. The Vikings closed the third quarter on a 12-7 run to grab the lead.
"This was a big for the team and the program. I'm very proud of the kids and the way they played," Dawson County coach Chad Pittman said. "I feel like we're peaking at the right time."
Joseph Cronan added 17 points for Dawson County. Kane Pelfrey scored 14 and Ryan Gallenkamp chipped in 11 for the Tigers.
East Hall was led by Luke Cooper with 26 points. Sedrion Morse added 17 and Makhi Brown 13 for the Vikings.
Dawson County closes out the regular season at home on Friday against Union County.
East Hall travels to Fannin County on Friday in its season finale. It was a big loss for the Vikings, who went into the night tied with Greater Atlanta Christian atop the region standings and now drop a game back with one game left.
