The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has plans to replace the west side of the Dawsonville Highway Bridge over Lake Lanier near Gainesville Marina.
GDOT officials have scheduled an open house for Jan. 11, 2018 to show the plans to any interested members of the community. The open house will take place at Chestatee High School on Sardis Road from 5-7 p.m.
The proposed project will cost an estimated $21.9 million, according to documents on the GDOT website. If all goes as planned, acquisition of right of way for the project would get underway in 2019 and bridge construction would begin in 2020.
The plan calls for replacement of the two lanes on the west side of the bridge.
