Boys basketball: Orr has triple-double for Banks; Union, Dawson see win streaks snapped

HOMER — Dylan Orr posted a triple-double in leading Banks County to a 77-56 win over Hebron Christian Thursday night in the semifinals of the Banks County Christmas Tournament.

Orr finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 blocks for Banks County. Carl Cleveland added 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists and Darius Bonds chipped in with 9 points and 11 assists for the Leopards.

Banks County (11-1) advanced to face Northwest Whitfield in the finals on Friday.

 

MURPHY (N.C.) BOYS 79,
UNION COUNTY 72

Union County's undefeated run came to an end Thursday.

The Panthers fell to Murphy (N.C.) in the semifinals of the Battle of the States tournament at Towns County High School.

Patrick Baggett led Union County (10-1) with 19 points. Crawford Colwell added 10 points and Pierson Allison finished with 9 points for the Panthers. Sawyer Drake also had 9 -points but managed just two points after the first quarter for Union County.

The Panthers had allowed just 43.5 points a game on defense until Thursday's loss.

 

KEENAN (S.C.) BOYS 61,
DAWSON COUNTY 54

The Dawson County boys fall to the No. 1-ranked team in Class AA in Soouth Carolina Thursday night in the semifinals of the Holiday on the Hardwood Tournament in Cherokee, N.C.

The loss for the Tigers (9-3) snapped a six-game win streak.

Cullen Reed led Dawson County with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Jeremiah Crumley added 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, Campbell Reed had 8 points and 6 rebounds, and Dakhota Sonnichsen chipped in 8 points for the Tigers.
