Toccoa man arrested for allegedly pulling gun at Gwinnett Burger King

A Toccoa man is facing charges in Gwinnett County for allegedly pulling a gun at a Burger King restaurant following an argument with an employee.

Emanjula Brown, 38, was inside the restaurant on Ga. 20 in Lawrenceville on Dec. 23, and told police that the store manager was on her phone while customers, including himself, were waiting for their food, according to a police report.

Brown told officers that he told the woman to get off her phone, at which point the manager threw a drink at him. Brown claimed he threw it back and demanded a refund, but the manager threatened to throw hot oil on him.

Brown said he responded by saying, "I wish you would."

According to the report, Brown claimed his wife, Lacorsha Burton, went to the couple's car to retrieve a gun, but Brown took it from her before she returned to the building, putting the weapon inside his pocket.

"Emanjula was very adamant about just taking (the gun) from her and quickly putting it in his pocket," the report states.

Police spoke with witnesses and looked over the surveillance video of the incident, and it apparently disagreed with Brown's description of the events.

He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, simple battery, battery, criminal trespass and cruelty to children.

Neither the Burger King manager, nor Burton were charged in the case.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that Brown posted bond on Dec. 24.
