The Gainesville Jaycees recently hosted its annual Empty Stocking Gift Party at Skate Country on Thompson Bridge Road.
About 1,000 people attended and 275 children received Christmas presents, the most in the event's history.
Activities included skating, playing games and eating pizza. In addition gift boxes were handed out. Inside were such things as shoes, coats, shirts, pants, and toys.
The Jaycees were given clothing and shoe sizes by school counselors, who also let the children name some of the toys they would like to receive.
