Jackson EMC crews head west

With Jackson EMC's service area recovering pretty well from the snow storm, some of its workers have headed to west Georgia to lend a hand.

On Sunday, Jackson EMC spokeswoman April Sorrow said 13 linemen had been sent to Cobb County and another 13 to Carroll County to assist in areas serviced by Cobb and Carroll EMCs.

That side of the metro Atlanta area was still having quite an issue with power outages.  Five west Georgia school districts called off classes for Monday due to lack of electricity.

Locally, Jackson EMC crews worked to restore power to roughly 85,000 customers during and after the Friday and Saturday storm.
