TIGER — Rabun County held B.E.S.T. Academy to minus-26 yards rushing and zero offensive points in taking a 35-2 win over the Eagles Friday night in the second round of the Class AA playoffs.
Meanwhile, senior Wildcats quarterback Bailey Fisher ran wild scoring three rushing touchdowns and passing for two others. Fisher finished with 119 yards on the ground and 126 through the air.
The Wildcats (12-0) needed just three plays to grab the lead. After a failed onside kick by the Eagles, Fisher scored on a 41-yard scamper for a 7-0 lead less than a minute into the game.
The only blemish came on the next sequence. The Rabun defense forced a quick BEST punt, which was downed at the Wildcats' 1 . On the next play Fisher was tackled in the end zone for a safety to cut the lead to 7-2.
The Eagles had a chance to take the lead driving to the Rabun 4 on the ensuing drive but the Wildcats stuffed a pair of BEST ballcarriers on third and fourth down to thwart the drive.
Rabun County was not able to get a first down and punted but the Eagles fumbled the punt and the Wildcats recovered at the Eagles 27. Fisher later capped an 8-play drive with a 1-yard scoring run for a 14-2 lead. The Wildcats increased it to 21-2 when Fisher scored on an 8-yard run one play after connecting with Cole Keener on a 36-yard pass.
Rabun County crushed any thoughts of a comeback when Fisher threw a pair of touchdown passes to Braxton Hicks of 8 and 22-yards in the third quarter to put the game away.
Rabun County next will travel to Region 4-AA champion Screven County in the quarterfinals. Screven knocked off Toombs County 34-20 on Friday and was awarded the home field on a statewide coin flip by the Georgia High School Association.
