MILLEDGEVILLE — After sharing the West Division title a year ago, the University of North Georgia men's basketball team will tip off the 2017-18 season at Georgia College in the Bobcat Crossover Classic this weekend. The Nighthawks will take on Emmanuel Friday evening before competing against second-ranked Queens on Saturday.
North Georgia returns four of its top five scorers from 2016-17, including leading scorer and preseason All-PBC forward Shaquan Cantrell. Cantrell averaged nearly 16 points per game a season ago.
The Nighthawks hold a slight advantage over the Lions of Emmanuel, winning six of the 11 matchups since 2001. UNG has yet to beat Queens, falling just short in the past two seasons.
Fans can follow this weekend's action by live stats or live video, courtesy of Georgia College, for both games. The team's Twitter account (@UNGMBB) will have in-game updates as well. Tipoff for Friday's game is set for 5:30 p.m.
