Hilton Hotel representatives visit Hall school

By AccessWDUN staff

Lanier College and Career Academy welcomed representatives from Hilton Hotel Properties Wednesday.  The visitors made a presentation to the students in the Hospitality, Recreation, and Tourism Program about the company's “Brighthearted Customer Service Training” program.

Hilton Corporate has offered its recently developed employee customer service training program to the school, making LCCA the only school in the nation (or world) to have the program as part of the curriculum.

During their visit to the school, brand managers from the Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn  talked about their personal career paths, job experience vs. college degree and specific focus on the training that both hotel brands have rolled out to all of their employees.

Students from Hall County high schools, including LCCA’s full–time students, have been participating in a career pathway (a.k.a. “Job Ready”) which prepares students for work in hospitality, travel, event management and tourism. This pathway has been offered at LCCA since 2009.

LCCA has an event center and restaurant in which the students train to practice their career skills. Classes stress academics, applied techniques and 50% soft skills. Employability skills are a major focus of all career pathways and even academic classes taught at LCCA.

Tourism in the state of Georgia was recently declared by Governor Deal to employ 450,000 people and is consistently in the top three income generators for the state with over $60 billion last year alone.
