UPDATE: Gainesville Police release suspect photos from bank robbery

By AccessWDUN staff
Authorities have updated the suspect description after getting surveillance photos of the man who robbed a bank near the intersection of Jesse Jewell and Limestone parkways Wednesday morning.

Gainesville Police received the initial call from the Wells Fargo bank branch at roughly 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook.  The bank is in the
Kroger Marketplace development.

"The suspect is described as a black male wearing a blue jacket, gray 'Georgia' sweatshirt and red and black floppy eared type hat," Holbrook wrote in an email update.

The suspect entered the bank with a note and gun and left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. In the afternoon update, Holbrook said investigators believe the man ultimately fled the area in a vehicle.

Police were working with several agencies, including the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and FBI, according to Holbrook. Georgia State Patrol troopers were also spotted in the area.

"We did scour the area. We set up a perimeter, brought in multiple officers that began looking at all of the businesses for any suspects or any person of interest that might match this suspect description," Holbrook added.

He asked anyone with information on the suspect to call 911.
