Suwanee City Council to discuss resurfacing of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road

Suwanee City Council is set to discuss the resurfacing of a 2.2-mile stretch of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road.

According to the council's agenda for its Nov. 9 work session, the Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded the contract to C.W. Matthews Contracting to do the work in the spring.

The resurfacing will happen between the I-85 overpass to an area south of Buford Highway.

City council is also slated to discuss a small housing development that could bring townhomes to a 6.1-acre tract of land near Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Eva Kennedy Road.

Council postponed a final vote on the project at its October voting session, allowing the developer more time to tweak the site plan.

Current plans call for 49 townhomes to be built by by Halifax Enterprises, LLC on a tract of land behind the Sherwin Williams Store on Peachtree Industrial.

The homes, if approved, would likely be priced in the mid-300's, according to Marty Allen, Suwanee city manager.
