For the first time in his collegiate career, University of North Georgia men's soccer player Alex Grant was named the Peach Belt Conference men's soccer player of the week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Grant scored three goals with one assist in two games for the Nighthawks. The junior from Wolverhampton, England, scored a goal and added an assist as UNG downed Clayton State 5-2 on the road, locking up the No. 3 seed in the PBC Tournament in the process. He followed that by scoring both UNG goals in a 3-2 loss to North Greenville in the regular-season finale on Saturday.
The three goals give him nine on the season, ranking him fourth in the league through the regular season. He is also tied for ninth in assists and is fourth in the league with 22 points.
Grant and the Nighthawks will host the Peach Belt Conference quarterfinals at the UNG Soccer Complex tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. as they welcome the No. 6 seed USC Aiken Pacers to Dahlonega.
