WINDER — Winder-Barrow quarterback Brock Landis knew how bad his team needed this one -- and he was not about to let it get away.
Even after a 7-0 start to the season -- the Bulldogg's best in over two decades -- Winder found itself in bad need of a win on Friday after suffering upset loss to Gainesville on Oct. 20.
With a postseason berth and a shot at a region title hanging on the line, Landis helped the 'Doggs go out and take care of business.
The senior quarterback completed 10 of 17 passes for 267 yards and three scores, while also rushing for 60 yards and a touchdown in Winder's 40-28 defeat of Habersham Central in Mt. Airy.
For his efforts, Landis has been named the Friday Game Night, Coca Cola United Bottling Player of the Week.
Landis has been a key part of the Bulldoggs' special season -- passing for 1,798 yards and 15 touchdowns against just five interceptions while also running for 444 yards and eight scores -- and he will have to play another big role this week when Winder plays host to Dacula with the Region 8-AAAAAA crown in the balance.
With that in mind, Access WDUN Sports and Friday Game Night editor Morgan Lee recently caught up with the dual-threat to talk with Landis about his big night, the Winder offense and just what it will have to do to get the better of Dacula this week.
