Suwanee postpones vote on housing development, could vote in November

A 6.1-acre townhome development is still on the table in Suwanee, with city council members postponing a final vote on the plan at the developer's request.

The project by Halifax Enterprises, LLC would bring 49 townhomes to a piece of land behind the Sherwin Williams store on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, according to Denise Brinson, assistant city manager.

Typically, developers ask for a delay in the vote if they are looking to tweak the site plan or work with neighboring property owners to resolve some sort of issue.

"There are definitely concerns — not necessarily this specific development — but just townhome developments in general," said Brinson.

The homes, if approved, would likely be priced in the mid-300's.

The Suwanee Planning Commission previously recommended approval of the plan.

Council will consider the project at its November voting session, though it's unclear if it will face a final vote, or if council will again postpone it.
