Lady Nighthawks' Allen named PBC Defender of the Week

By UNG Athletic Communications

After an undefeated week for the Nighthawks, Michelle Allen of the University of North Georgia women's soccer team has been named the Peach Belt Conference Defender of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. This is the third such honor in her collegiate career.

The senior from Lilburn, Georgia, led the Nighthawk defense to just one goal allowed in two wins last week. UNG shut down Georgia Southwestern, holding the Hurricanes without a shot in a 10-0 win. Allen added a goal and an assist against GSW, giving her eight points on the season. The shutout was UNG's fifth of the year, tied for fourth in the PBC.

North Georgia then held UNC Pembroke to just five shots, three on goal, in a 2-1 win where, after allowing the UNCP goal just before half, Allen and the defense shutout the Braves in the second as the team rallied with two scores.

The Nighthawks will close out the regular season with a road match against Clayton State on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. in Morrow, Georgia.
