The Cornelia Downtown Development Authority has awarded Ninth District Opportunity a sign grant on the occasion of the opening of its Habersham Branch in Cornelia.
Ninth District Opportunity is a Gainesville-based non-profit organization serving northeast Georgia. Its mission is to help people reach the goal of self-sufficiency and lessen the causes of poverty.
The sign grant is a reimbursable grant available for downtown business and property owners. In order to qualify for the grant, the business or property owner has to get the project approved by the Cornelia Downtown Development board prior to any work being done. Once approved, the project must be completed within 120 days. Upon completion, the Board will review all receipts and final results of work prior to issuing grant monies. The Cornelia Main Street Façade Grant is for up to 50 percent of project cost with a maximum cap of $500.
Ninth District Opportunity received $403.50 for its new sign. It's Cornelia office is located on North Main Street.
