No. 5 Rabun County routs Putnam in 8-AA

TIGER — Cole Keener scored two touchdowns in the first 85 seconds to ignite Rabun County to a 59-0 destruction of Putnam County friday night in Region 8-AA action at Frank Snyder Stadium.

The Class AA fifth-ranked Wildcats (6-0, 2-0 Region 8-AA) pushed their regular season win streak to 24 games and ave now won 23 straight region games going back to 2013.

Keener electrified the home crowd returning the opening kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead just 13 seconds in and then reeled in a 28-yard touchdown pass from Bailey Fisher just over a minute later for a 14-0 advantage.

The War Eagles (4-3, 1-2) never recovered. Rabun County increased the lead to 24-0 by the end of the first quarter on a 20-yard Andrew Barnes field and a 10-yard scoring run from Fisher.

The Wildcats poured in on in the seocnd quarter as Fisher tossed two more touchdown passes, a 30-yard strike to Austin Jones and 26-yarder to Braxton Hicks, sandwiched around a 7-yard scoring run from Brison Beck and a 50-yard punt return for a touchdown from Jones as Rabun led 52-0 at halftime.

A.J. Wheeler added a 5-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for Rabun County to cap the scoring.

Rabun County did not punt in the game.

Fisher finished 10-of-16 for 202 yards passing to go with 48 yards rushing. Beck finished with 64 yards rushing and Hcks had 3 catches for 75 yards to lead Rabun County .

Putnam County was held to just 120 total yards by the Wildcats defense.
