FLOWERY BRANCH — Malik Drayton and Malik Damons combined for six touchdown to lead Flowery Branch to a 49-13 win over Walnut Grove Friday night in Region 8-AAAAA action at Falcons Field.
Drayton broke a 7-7 tie erly in the second quarter with a 26-yard touchdown run and capped a 28-point quarter with 75-yard touchdown pass from Elijah Gainey in the final seconds to push the Falcons (6-1, 3-0 Region 8-AAAAA) lead to 35-7 by halftime.He also had scoring runs of 3 and 4-yards.
Drayton piled 162 acombined yards, 76 on the ground and 86 through the air.
Damons scored twice, one on a 2-yard run in the first quarter and then on a 14-yard jaunt in the second quarter. Damons finished with 105 yards on the ground.
Gainey also added a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jalin Strown in the fourth quarter. Gainey went 11-for-22 for 250 yards.
Walnut Grove (2-5, 1-2) scored in the first quarter and then with just 20 seconds left in the game after the Falcons had built a 49-7 lead.
Flowery Branch next will travel to Loganville next week while the Warriors head to Class AAAAA No. 2 Buford.
