MONTEVALLO, Ala. — Senior Kelsey Hutchins led the game in scoring and rebounds in her double-double performance helping lead the University of North Georgia women's basketball team past Montevallo, 81-59, Saturday afternoon at Trustmark Arena.
The Nighthawks move to 15-4 on the season with a 7-3 mark in Peach Belt Conference play.
After 20 minutes of back-and-forth play in the first two quarters, North Georgia took a four-point lead into the intermission, 34-30. Coach Buffie Burson's halftime talk seemed to inspire some hot hands in the second half as the Nighthawks shot 54 percent from the field in the third and fourth quarters, including a 5-12 mark from behind the arch.
NOTES
- Kelsey Hutchins led all scorers with 23 points on the day and collected a game-high 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. It marks Hutchins' 45-th consecutive game scoring in double figures.
- Jordan Livesay, Julie McKie, and Deana Blankinship scored in double figures as well with 15, 13, and 10 points respectively.
- North Georgia has now won eight in a row over Montevallo. The Falcons will travel to Dahlonega on Wednesday, Feb. 15 for UNG's Spirit Night.
