Deal nominates Gwinnett man to head Department of Driver Services

Gov. Nathan Deal has nominated a Gwinnett man to be the new commissioner of the state's Department of Driver Services (DDS).

Spencer R. Moore has served as deputy commissioner since December 2012, according to a press release from Deal's office issued Tuesday afternoon; he is slated, pending approval, to replace Bert Brantley, who has been nominated to take over the role as Chief Operating Officer of the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

Moore served as the deputy director of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety for six years as part of his 20-year career in state government.

Brantley, who hails from McDonough, has served as DDS Commissioner since March 2016.

Both appointments, if approved, will take effect Wednesday.
