A man and woman from Gainesville face charges for allegedly hiding 6.5 ounces of methamphetamine in a diaper bag and placing it on an infant during a traffic stop.
Russell Ray Passmore, 38, and Megan Elizabeth Stone, 27, both face charges of trafficking and possession of meth, and cruelty to children, among other charges, according to a press release from the Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (MANS).
Lt. Don Scalia said in a phone interview that he wasn't sure of the exact relationship between Passmore and Stone, but said the child was theirs. The child was examined at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and released to the Department of Family and Children Services.
The pair were arrested Jan. 1 following the traffic stop on Edgewater Drive at Clarks Bridge Road in Hall County around 12:30 p.m.
Agents seized approximately $20,900 worth of narcotics during the investigation, along with hypodermic needles, scales and packaging materials.
Passmore is also charged with failure to maintain lane, no proof of insurance, removal of license plate and failure to apply a seat belt to a child.
