As construction continues on a new addition for Centennial Arts Academy in Gainesville, students at the school took time Thursday to sign a beam that will be placed in the new building.
Centennial Principal Leslie Frierson said the beam will be placed in one of the classrooms in the new two-story addition, although she was unsure of the beam's exact placement. Frierson handed permanent markers to students as they wrote their names on the beam during recess.
A total of 30 classrooms will fill the 35,000-square-foot-plus space when the project is finished. Target date for the addition to be finished is December 2016.
