HIAWASSEE — Towns County scored in the second overtime and then stopped Riverside Military Academy at the 1-yard line to hold on for a 13-6 win in Region 8-A action Friday night.
The win for the Indians (2-2, 1-2 Region 8-A) matches their win total from all of last season.
Towns County scored in the first quarter to take the lead and it stayed that way until Riverside’s Lyle Lopez capped a 95-yard drive with a 6-yard run with 32 seconds left to tie the game. But the Indians blocked the extra point to send the game to overtime.
In the first overtime, Riverside Military (1-3, 1-3) missed a 19 yard field goal but Towns County turned the ball over on downs.
In the second overtime, Towns County scored to take the lead and then stopped the Eagles at the 1-yard line on fourth down to preserve the win.
