TOCCOA — Stephens County piled up 387 yards of offense, including 276 on the ground, to ground out a stunning 41-7 win over Flowery Branch Friday night at The Reservation.
It was a game that was expected to have fireworks on both sides but the Indians (2-1) jumped on the Falcons (1-2) with 20 first quarter points, including a momentum changing interception return for a touchdown by Dylan Huff. The Falcons were driving for a possible tying score.
Jackson Bell connected with A.J. Curry just over two minutes into the game for a 7-0 lead and then Huff made it 13-0 three minutes later. Bell then exploded for a 75-yard touchdown run for a 20-0 lead less than 10 minutes in. The Falcons never recovered.
Bell found Donovan Curry on a 6-yard scoring pass that was set up by a 55-yard bomb to A.J. Curry one play before to push the lead to 27-0 by halftime.
The Indians continued to press the attack in the third quarter getting a 36-yard touchdown run from A.J. Howard and a 43-yard touchdown run from Brown Hassan for a 41-0 lead.
The Falcons score came in the fourth quarter when Nick Lance connected with Jalen Strown on a 2-yard pass.
The Falcons were held to just 201 total yards and Malik Drayton, who had averaged nearly 200 all-purpose yards a game through their first two games was held to just 24 total yards.
Bell finished with 92 yards rushing and 111 yards passing to pace Stephens County.
