Spout Springs Elementary has been recognized as a "healthy school" by Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, officials announced Friday.
According to Cagle's website, the school does not allow outside food as a member of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools Program."
“I’ve had more parents thank me than criticize it,” said Tom Adam, physical education teacher, on the site.
Spout Springs has also particpated in several food-based fund-raisers, netting some $40,000 in the process.
The school will be featured on Cagle's site for another month and a half, according to Gordon Higgins, Hall County School System spokesman.
