DAHLONEGA — Following a rewarding win against the fifth-ranked team in the nation on Saturday, the University of North Georgia men's soccer team was unable to repeat the magic from the previous weekend, falling 4-1 to the visiting Royals of Queens (N.C.). The Nighthawks slip to 1-2 on the young season after the defeat.
After a rather uneventful 44 minutes, players scrambled franticly in the final seconds of the first half, allowing Queens to capitalize with a goal from Corey Brown from inside the 18-yard box.
Queens' Edmundo Robinson wasted no time after the break, scoring early in the second half with a breakaway shot from just outside the box, assisted by Corey Brown, adding to Brown's stat line for the evening.
At the sixty-first minute mark the Nighthawks were awarded a penalty kick off the foul from the Queens goalie, Sergio Lemus, who was given a yellow card for the offense. The UNG penalty kick from Eddie Hurst was launched just outside the reach of the goalie to put the Nighthawks on the board for the first time.
The UNG goal was quickly countered by Queens in the sixty-third minute, scoring off a corner kick taken by Corey Brown and headed into the net by Luc Patberg. The corner from Brown would attribute his second assist on the night.
Queens would add another late goal by Robinson to give the game its final score, 4-1.
