Piedmont women's cross country finishes 3rd in season opener

The Piedmont College Lady Lions opened the 2016 season with a strong start at the Berry College Watermelon Run finishing third overall ahead of USA South schools Agnes Scott College and LaGrange College as well as Oglethorpe University. Reese Bowles led the team as she took 25th place overall in the 6k with a time of 26:17.37.

Sophomore Mackenzie Devine crossed as the second Lady Lion running a 26:58.56 while the top five was rounded out with three freshmen. Analee Bradach ran a 27:00.41 with fellow newcomer Melanie Rimwami hot on her heels coming in at 27:02.27 while Casey Todd took the final scoring spot running a 27:48.22.

Devine, Bradach and Rimawi finished back-to-back-to-back overall in the race taking 33rd, 34th and 35th, respectively, finishing within four seconds of one another. Piedmont's final group came across within 29 seconds of one another as Amber Duffy crossed in 29:10.07 followed by Monica Jiminez and Kristin Whitlock.
