Rifles, pistols stolen in early morning Buford smash-and-grab burglary

By Bryan Pirkle Reporter

Gwinnett County police are investigating an early Sunday morning burglary that saw several rifles and pistols stolen from a Buford business.

Officers responded to an alarm at Dead Center Indoor Gun Range at 5:15 a.m., where, according to GPD Cpl. Michelle Pihera, they discovered "a heavily damaged front wall, with a large hole leading into the business."

That business, which is described on its website as an "indoor shooting facility and gun store," is located at 1759 Buford Highway, just northeast of Buford Drive.

Pihera said in a media release that upon further investigation, it was determined "that several rifles and pistols were taken" from the business.

Security footage of the crime later revealed that a "full-sized grey Dodge pick-up with a hard-shell camper top" was used to ram the storefront, creating the large hole that officers discovered.

The suspects apparently then entered the business, took the weapons, and re-entered the suspect vehicle. The truck was then seen on video exiting the business' front parking lot and driving north on Buford Highway.

The release did not say if any suspects have been named in the case, nor how many weapons were stolen.

Pihera said personnel with Gwinnett Police Crime Scene Investigation also responded to the location in order to process the scene.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the GPD Homicide Unit at (770) 513-5300. To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.
