Several northeast Georgians named to state boards last week

These northeast Georgians were named to state boards by Gov. Nathan Deal last week:

*Randy Shirley, Board of Commissioners of the Sheriffs’ Retirement Fund of Georgia

Shirley is the sheriff of Stephens County and was previously the police chief of Lavonia. He is a past president of the Toccoa Lions Club and the Toccoa Shrine Club. Shirley is active with the Toccoa-Stephens Boys & Girls Club, the Tugalo Baptist Association and the criminal justice advisory board at North Georgia Technical College. Shirley sits on the National Sheriff’s Association boards for homeland security, juvenile justice and youth programs. He is also a member of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association’s Training & Standards Committee. Shirley earned bachelor’s degrees in Public Administration and Criminal Justice from Brenau University. He and his wife, Cheryl, have one child and reside in Toccoa.

*Angela Mackey, Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Services Board

Mackey is a human resources generalist at the Walgreens distribution center in Pendergrass. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Anderson University and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Clemson University. Mackey and her husband, Christopher, live in Braselton.

*Dare Domico, State Board of Nursing Home Administrators (reappointment)

Domico is the associate dean for graduate programs for the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing at Mercer University. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society and the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses. Domico earned a diploma in Nursing from the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing, a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia, a master’s degree in Nursing from Emory University and a doctoral degree in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She resides in Suwanee.

*Mark Chastain, State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (reappointment)

Chastain is a land surveyor and the owner of Chastain & Associates, P.C., a surveying, planning and consulting service. He served one term as the Gilmer County Surveyor and two terms on the Gilmer County Board of Commissioners. Chastain earned an associate degree from the Southern College of Technology in Civil Engineering Technology. He and his wife, Donna, have three children and live in Ellijay.
