By AccessWDUN Staff

GAINESVILLE — Chestatee remained unbeaten in 2016 after knocking off East Hall 6-1 Wednesday in softball action at Talon Field.

Beth and Becca Eddins combined on a four-hitter and no earned runs to move the Lady War Eagles to a perfect 7-0 record in the early going. Beth Eddins went three innings and Becca pitched the final four to preserve the win.

The victory ties them with Central-Carroll (7-1) for the most wins in Class AAAA. Chestatee has scored a classification-most 58 runs so far on the season.

Chestatee took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning off Lady Vikings (3-3) ace Stephanie Redmon, who allowed six runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. After East Hall cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the fifth taking advantage of a couple of Chestatee miscues, the Lady War Eagles added a run in the bottom of the fifth and blew the game open with three more in the sixth.

Bailey Mason, who is batting .500 on the season, had three hits and freshman catcher Katilyn Babb had three hits and four RBI for Chestatee.

The Lady War Eagles are off until next Wednesday when they will play host to a doubleheader with Rabun County.

East Hall will play host to Union County in a Region 7-AAA battle at East Hall Park.
