The Boys and Girls Clubs of Hall County will hold their annual "Future for Kids Gala" Oct. 11, which honors supporters of the clubs.
The keynote speaker will be former University of Tennessee football player-turned inspirational speaker Inky Johnson. In announcing Johnson as the featured speaker, the clubs note that he "defied all the odds to find success and inspire greatness."
Johnson's website details how he suffered a life-threatening injury during a "routine" tackle in a game in Knoxville on Sept. 9, 2006, "and nothing has been normal ever since."
The gala will be held at 5:30 at the Gainesville Civic Center.
