GAINESVILLE — Gainesville High softball used a seven-run second inning to pace a 11-3 win over Johnson on Monday in their season opener.
Aliyah Goss picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Red Elephants (1-0), allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and five strikeouts.
Tinisha Watson led Gainesville at the plate, going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI, while Madison Oliver produced 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Lindsey Ledford and Emma Phillips also each had 2 hits and an RBI, while Sydney Payne had a double and an RBI.
Gainesville travels to face Chestatee at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
