Gainesville McDonald's employee fired for refusing to serve law enforcement

An employee at a local McDonald's was fired Monday for reportedly refusing service to uniformed law enforcement, Hall County Sheriff's Office officials said in a news release.

The incident, which happened at the location on Jesse Jewell Parkway at Limestone Parkway, came to light via a Facebook comment.

"The local McDonald's franchise owner has always been a friend to law enforcement in the area, and we look forward to enjoying a positive relationship with the company for years to come," said Sheriff's Lt. Chris Dale.

McDonald's representatives responded to a press inquiry Monday evening, issuing a statement from the owner of the franchise, Robert Swoszowski.

"We strive to provide every customer with the best service during every visit. When that does not happen, we address it quickly and provide the necessary tools and training to ensure our high standards of customer service are being met," Swoszowski stated. "Hall County has been home to McDonald’s for more than 45 years, and throughout this time, we have been ardent supporters of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office and the men and women in our law enforcement community."

"We look forward to welcoming all of our customers and meeting their expectations of high quality service.”
