Burned Gwinnett home, site of fatal fire that killed mother, two daughters, torn down

The home that was the site of a fire that killed a mother and her two daughters in Gwinnett County has been torn down.

The house, which is located in Tucker, was torn down Tuesday, according to WGCL-TV in Atlanta.

Kathy Patterson and her two daughters, Madelyn, 9, and Kayla, 12, died in the February 10 fire. Patterson's husband, Brent Patterson, escaped with minor injuries.

Investigators continue to investigate the cause of the blaze, including what they called "conflicting" statements from Brent Patterson.

WGCL reports that investigators believe the fire started in the area of an electric reclining couch in the living room of the home, but have not been able to definitively say that the couch sparked the fire.
