Hall County man holds authorities at bay during domestic incident

A Hall County man remains in jail for allegedly injuring a woman and holding authorities at bay when he barricaded himself inside his home, authorities said Friday.

Christopher Johnson Martin, 33, of Gillsville is charged with hitting the woman with a gun and choking her and then preventing her from leaving the home Thursday, said Hall County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Ware.

When deputies arrived, Martin refused to come out of the house, and barricaded himself inside.

Ware said in a phone interview that the SWAT team was dispatched to the residence, and Martin surrendered himself without further incident once the unit arrived on scene.

Martin is charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment and obstruction.
