Later this year, during its inaugural event at Château Élan Winery & Resort in Braselton, The Atlanta Concours d’Elegance will honor South Hall pharmaceutical, technology and auto racing entrepreneur Don Panoz.
Panoz has been an influential part of the automobile design and endurance sports car racing communities for decades. Some of his career highlights include:
· Creator of Panoz Motor Sport Group, which commissioned the building of the Panoz Esperante GTR-1, the first successful front-engine prototype race car to compete in endurance racing in many years.
· Founder of the American Le Mans Series and Petit Le Mans endurance sports car race.
· Investor in three significantly important North American racetracks, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Sebring International Raceway, and Road Atlanta.
· Managing partner of Panoz DeltaWing Racing and chairman of the DeltaWing Technology Group.
Additionally, Panoz has committed his resources to developing technology aimed at decreasing automobile emissions and increasing fuel/energy efficiency, through investment in new technologies and partnerships with engineering and design companies.
On the evening of Oct. 8, starting at 6:30, The Atlanta Concours d’Elegance will feature Panoz as its special guest during its Honoree Gala, a charitable evening benefitting the Alzheimer’s Association – Georgia Chapter.
The Concours d’Elegance Honoree Gala is part of the 2016 event’s weekend of festivities, which includes two days of vehicle showcases, a concours level vehicle competition, driving tour, a restoration themed display, ride-and-drive opportunities, technical sessions, sponsor displays, and a wide variety of vendors.
