Victims of Suwanee double shooting remain in critical condition

By AccessWDUN Staff
The motive in a double shooting in a Suwanee neighborhood earlier this week remains a mystery, and Gwinnett County police investigators are still trying to find out exactly what happened.

The Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD) released an update on the investigation Wednesday morning, noting that a number of questions in the Monday shooting remain unanswered.

The email update said the initial report indicated occupants of a silver passenger car and a black passenger car at Pendlton Place were shooting at one another.  When the first officer arrived, he noticed broken glass in the roadway.  A shell casing was found in the area of the broken glass. The victims and the cars had already left the scene.

One neighbor told the officers that she was in her home when she saw the two vehicles in the street parked side-by-side facing opposite directions.  She told officers she heard several large bangs and watched as the black car backed up and drive away. The occupants of the silver car exited and chased the black car, according to the witness.  They ran a short distance and then returned to their car.

Police said a second witness came forward and gave a similar account of the event.

Investigators were able to determine two people were shot during the exchange of gunfire.  Both victims were taken to the hospital immediately following the shooting and arrived within minutes of one another. The identities of those persons is not being released at this time.

The email statement further stated that after the first victim was dropped off at the hospital, the driver returned back to Pendleton Place.  The driver told the officers that he simply dropped the victim off at the hospital and was not involved in the shooting.  Officers obtained his information and the black passenger car was impounded to GCPD Headquarters.

After the second gunshot victim arrived at the hospital, officers found the unoccupied silver passenger car in the parking lot.  That vehicle also was impounded to GCPD Headquarters.

At this point no warrants have been issued in the incident. The lead detective in the case continues to interview witnesses.
