Hall County residents among top finishers in Piedmont alumni golf tourney; one registered a hole-in-one

For the 28th year, golfers teed off in the annual Piedmont College Alumni Association’s Coach Cave Memorial Golf Tournament recently at The Orchard Golf and Country Club.

Several Hall County residents were among the top finishers:  Tommy Lowry and Tom Sexton of Gainesville were in the first-place foursome which also included Jeff Lowry and Nick Lowry, both of Mt. Airy.  They finished the best-ball tournament with a score of 53. 

The second place team, also with a score of 53, included Chris Deitzel of Monroe, Kent Feolamerio of Loganville, Ryan Kersey of Dacula and another Hall County man, Mike Roeser of Flowery Branch.

The third place winners were Robert Baker of Locust Grove, Jacob Baker of Lawrenceville, Josh Walker of Suwanee, and Ryan Moore of Suwanee, with a score of 55. Fourth place went to the team of Richard York of Blue Ridge, Mike Swords of Covington, Paul Gribble of Blue Ridge and Shad Hall of Clarkesville, also with a 55 total.

Joe Ingram of Gainesville made a hole-in-one,his career seventh, to win one of four closest-to-the-hole prizes. Other closest-to-the-hole winners were Robert Baker, Tommy Lowry, and Kevin Allen.

The tournament is named for the late Leon O'Neal Cave, who served as a coach and athletic director at Piedmont from 1948 to 1983. All proceeds go to the Coach Cave Scholarship and general funding for athletics.
