Moon brings home another title

PEORIA, Ill. —  It was another successful meet for Georgia IronDawg bench-press specialist Tim "T" Moon of Gainesville at the World United Amateur Powerlifting-USA National Powerlifting and Bench Press Championships Sunday,

Moon added to his collection of National titles with another Championship.

"I saw some great lifting today," said Moon, a 1982 alumnus of Jefferson High. "It was an all-day meet. To give a baseball analogy, I got on base with a easy lift of 330 kilograms/727.525 pounds; so with my next two lifts I tried to hit a home run. I made a jump of about 100 lbs. I missed 375 kgs. /826.733 lbs. twice,  coming pretty close on my second lift. This would have been a PR (personal record) for me. I was trying to increase my all-time over 50 (age group) record; but today was not the day."

"It's nice to win another national championship," Moon continued. "I will be lifting in the APC (American Powerlifting Committee) meet in Jefferson next month. I am really looking forward to it, as one of my daughters will be joining me on the platform, (she will lift) in full-power competition."

"I won first place today at (the age of) 52 and weighed in at 280. (I) also earned the best lifter trophy and had the heaviest lift of the meet."

The APC Nationals will be held July 9th and 10th at the Civic Center in Jefferson. A number of Moon's Georgia IronDawg teammates are expected to join him for the meet.
