Sonic to open at former Gainesville Chick-Fil-A site

A Sonic will open this summer at the former site of Chick-Fil-A on Pearl Nix Parkway in Gainesville.
 
Drew Lewis with the Shopping Center Group confirmed the fast food chain will open at the site at the intersection of Pearl Nix and Shallowford Road on Wednesday.
 
"Chick-Fil-A had good success there," said Lewis. "We thought that a restaurant using the drive through would do just as well, so we targeted national names and Sonic came to the table. There were a couple of others but Sonic made the most sense."
 
Lewis did not have an expected opening date for the restaurant.
