Five Hall County schools will have new principals for the 2016-17 school year

By B.J. Williams
Teachers and staff at five Hall County schools learned Thursday they will have new principals for the upcoming school year.

Hall County School District Superintendent Will Schofield announced in an afternoon press release that one middle school and four elementary schools are involved in the changes.

Current North Hall Middle School principal Shane Rayburn will fill a vacant position as Special Education Coordinator for the school district. Scheduled to fill the principal's position at NHMS is Tamara Etterling, the current principal at Martin Technology Academy of Math and Science.

The principal of McEver Arts Academy, Pam Doig, has been selected as the new principal for Wauka Mountain Multiple Intelligences Academy. Earlier this year, Dr. Jo Dinnan, who had served for 10 years as the principal at Wauka Mountain, was named the school district's Director of Elementary Education. Matt Alexander, the principal of Lula Elementary, will take the helm at McEver.

The new assignments mean there are vacant principal's jobs at Martin and Lula elementary schools. Schofield said the process of filling those positions will begin immediately.

All of the changes will be contingent on school board approval. The Hall County School Board next meets on Monday, May 16 at 6 p.m. at the Chestatee High School auditorium.
