STATE CHAMPS: Morales claims 2nd state title in Albany

ALBANY — East Jackson's Sue Ann Morales claimed her second state title of the weekend winning the Class AAA 800-meter run Saturday on the final day of the GHSA girls track and field championships.

Morales finished in a time of 2:15.61 to outpace the field.

In other action, Emma Garrison of Union County finished second in the Class 800 in a time of 2:21.68. Buford's Erin Marsh took third in the Class AAAA 300-meter hurdles while the Lady Wolves' 4x400 relay team also finished third. Alexa Rossum finished fifth in both the the 100-meter and 200-meter for Buford.

Also in Class AAAA, North Hall's Mattie Bohanan took fifth in the 800. Trini Puente was eighth in the 100-meter hurles for the Lady Trojans.

In Class AAA action, Jefferson's Akera Benton was sixth in the 400 and Taylor Love finished eighth in the 300 hurdles. The Lady Dragons 4x400 relay team took eighth and East Jackson finished seventh.

In the Class A Public meet, Sydney McClure of Commerce finished eighth in the 300 hurles while the Lady Tigers' 4x400 relay team finished fifth.
