House Bill 1037, which was designed in part to help address issues of elder abuse inside Georgia's nursing homes, was signed into law this week by Gov. Nathan Deal. This comes on the heels of a national survey involving 2,000 nursing home residents that saw 44% claim to be recent victims of abuse and 95% claim to have been recently neglected or seen another resident recently neglected.
Kathy Floyd, the Executive Director of the Georgia Council on Aging, joined the Afternoon News Wrap this week to discuss the issue of elder abuse and how HB 1037 may help combat the problem.
